Northern CA

Weed, close to the border of CA and Oregon. There are courts that are within minutes from a local microbrewery. Mount Shasta can be seen from this friendly mountain town.

Elk Grove's Regional Park is thirty minutes south of Sacramento (State Capitol). The courts are surrounded by massive trees that help beat the summer heat.

Lincoln's clay courts are found in Placer County, north east of Sacramento. These courts were brought back to life under the leadership of Jeff Williams. Thanks to Jeff, tournaments and league nights are held regularly.

Sacramento's Tahoe Park, is minutes from the State Capitol, CA History and Railroad museums. The dirt courts are located in one of Sacramento's charming neighborhoods with playground in view of the courts.

Southern CA

Burbank courts found in Los Angeles County, next to the Joslyn Center, have clay courts that are kept in awesome condition thanks to Jim Atwell. Jim has pitched for fifty plus years. Jim runs tournament and leagues; and special horseshoe events such as Senior Games. Courts are near major movie studios including Disney.

Ridgecrest’s courts are about an hour before entering into CA's Mojave Desert. There is an excellent walking trail and information on petroglyphs found locally at the adjacent park. The star gazing is breathtaking.

Santee is in the heart of San Diego. These sand courts are at a county park that includes RV camping, lakeside cabins, paddle boats, fishing, playgrounds and a walking trail.

Stevenson Ranch courts are found in North Los Angeles County. Each court is separated by rows of roses. Spring is a great time to pitch when the roses are in full bloom.

South Gate also found in Los Angeles County have clay courts that are pristine. Ray Lopez and his family keep the courts in prime shape at all times. These are the best clay courts in California.

Central CA

Clovis’ Centennial Park, has sand courts with a playground nearby. The park also features a walking trail. The courts are located about an hour from an entry to Yosemite National Park.

Madera, located in Central CA boasts one of the largest leagues to be found with anywhere from 100-200 participants found weekly. This league was founded by Harlen Rippetoe. The league has been going strong for more than 20 years.

Tulare’s Centennial Park courts were recently revitalized through the efforts of Frank Arroyo and the City’s Park Department. There are ten sand courts with new back boards. Under Frank’s leadership, benefit tournaments are being held to benefit the Tulare Boys & Girls Club through CA Horseshoe’s “Pitch for a Cause.”  An hour east of Tulare is Sequoia National Park that is home to groves of giant Sequoia trees.
